Hey Bulletmaker,

I understand that two of your deer hunters saw a young cougar on the road by your place?

Howdy Ray !!

I ain 't seen you around in awhile, your going to have to come by and say howdy sometime. Cheesy

But yes, one of my hunters was coming out of the bottoms at 14:00 hrs, and just as he was locking up the gate, he see's something walking down the middle of the road, coming off the hill, towards him. At first he thought it might have been a big bobcat, when all of a sudden a car comes down the road at hight speed and the cat moves over in the bar ditch at the side of the road. It was at this point that the lion now was sideway's to him that he saw the long tail. Once the car went by, the lion just simplly got back in the middle of the road and walked up the hill, from where he came from  Huh Couldn't figure that one out, but it shook up my hunter pretty good. He said the lion looked to be about 3 to 4 month's old. What worried him is the lion saw him locking the gate up, and just keep on  coming towards him.  Shocked, I told him that since it was that young out on it's own that mama lion might have been around close by. I also got to thinking that lion's have litters like house cat's do, so there might have been a  couple more of the cub's around somewhere.  Anyway, the deer season ain't been that great so far this year, and it could be cause of the Mt. Lion's.

I keep my rifle close by and loaded  when I'm down there. And not always for lion's either. Sometimes there's something worse that lion's and Bigfoot in them woods. Like evil beings.

Well recon I'll pitch camp and start a fire for my coffee and hardtack. if you come by, just look for the smoke from the fire and drop by for a cup of coffee.

Tonight at at dark, I sat on the back porch, and enjoyed the cool fall night. Around 8 Oclock, I heard the mt lion screaming down in the hollers. It screamed for what seemed like 45 minutes, as it was walking around down there in the dark. Don't know if it was a female looking for a male, or vice-versa. But it was a good show, and made the cool night air, seem alittle chiller and the screams must have been what the pioneers heard way back in 1800's time frame in this area. Glad I wasn't one of them ol pioneers, that had to either camp on the ground, or in the wagon. Neither would be of much protection, if the cougar came for ya.
There wasn't anyother sounds, no Bigfoot, coyotes, wolfs, all quiet, after the Mt. Lion left, or maybe it didn't leave but just layed down, waiting for a deer to come by. Or maybe a bigfoot hunter.  Shocked

Another interesting point....Yesterday July 16, 2001, one of my clients (Chet) came by, early morning, at 07:00 A.M. to help me tear down the old swiming pool deck. We will be using the wood on other deer stands, anyhow, as we were working, I looked down at the ground, and there at my feet, were a set of Mt.Lion tracks. I ask Chet to come over and verify what I was looking at and he agreed with me, that they were Mt.Lion tracks. Now I was out in this spot the day before, so sometime during the night, the Lion came by.
I guess I need to carry a gun with me, just to go outside. Shocked ya never know.
Hey Dr. Ciani, if ya come down again to spend the night in the cabin, ya might want to have a gun with you.  Cheesy Or, don't go outside in the dark to take a Pee.  Cheesy

Update on the Mt.lion sightings. Shocked

Wed, 17th Aug, 2011, at 15:00 hours, the wife went out the back door to hang clothes on the line to dry out. As she was reaching up to hang the first item, she noticed something strange at the edge of the pond, (the pond is only about 40 yards from the back door), It turned out to be a full grown Mt. Lion, getting a drink of water. It saw the wife and took out running the opposite direction. Lucky for the wife. The wife, said it was about 6ft long, from nose, to tip of tail. that`s a good size one.
The Mt.Lion is alot like Bigfoot, in that there is no time frame he should or should not be out and around. The point is....they darn will do what they want and go where they want, no matter the time of day.

 Cool

Update....Put motion game camera at the pond, yesterday. Course, you know that he or she, Mt. Lion, won`t ever come around, after setting up a camera to get the picture.  Angry But, then again, ya never know. Also, the only water on the entire hill, is my pond, behind my house, so, if bigfoot gets thirsty, I got him. Wink

I do have to say that it makes it rather difficult to hang out laundry wearing a shoulder holster.  Of course I am aware that living in the country there are all kinds of critters out here, but I have never seen a Mountain Lion that close to the house before.  Now my son did see one lying near the picnic table some time ago.  Just the fact that they are venturing so close to the house does rather concern me.  I don't know what to do about it, if anything, but I am not happy about this "neighbor" coming to visit.
