Bill,

The SF (shadow folk) descriptive term is reflective of many NA peoples attitudes and beliefs about these beings with some tribes holding to the idea they are some type of spirit world beings while others regard them as simply a race of ancient people and with a live and let live philosophy toward them which is how I regard them as well.

Some eastern woodland tribes held them as evil in nature and to be feared and fought if necessary while some plains tribes felt it was a sign of good fortune to observe one.  Contrary to Hollywood's portrayal NA's were not necessarily all that  homogenous in attitudes and beliefs about a lot of things with many tribes having their own series of often violent disputes within themselves.

Around here the Cherokees and Creeks have a history of mutual distrust of each other with both hating the Osage as they were "yankee" NA's.  Maybe, that's why God placed my Yuchi ancestors on the Tennessee river in north Alabama to keep them separated ?   Wink

Bill, here is the popular accepted definition of shadow people

Quote
"Shadow People??" you say...

 Yup!  Shadow people.

"And just what are they??"  you ask...

Well no one seems to know for sure, but this type of supernatural being is one of the most commonly reported types of apparitions by people who have the ability to see ghosts in general.  Apparently they are some sort of phantasm but their descriptions vary so widely that no two people who have witnessed their presence ever describe exactly the same kind of being.

Shadow People, also known as Shadow Folk, are usually attracted to one person or location for unknown reasons.  Often they are seen as dark silhouettes of human-shape, generally male, that prefer to watch someone unseen and flee the moment they are noticed.  Still this doesn't always fit the experience.  While some people distinctly see a male shape without details, others have described them from  shapeless wispy black blobs to swirling columns of dark smoke.  Some have odors associated with them while most don't. Their personalities range wildly from shy and skittish to downright nasty, with a few of the living describing them as the ultimate essence of pure evil.  One segment of sighters claim shadow people are a type of post human ghost while another camp of folks swear they are strictly elemental.  In any case, the only common denominator seems to be is that they are 'dark.'

Thanks for the replies. I guess I was trying to relate it to bigfoot in some way and thought maybe it was small foot but since I'd never heard of that term either I just really couldn't figure out what folks were talking about. Now that you've explained it I think I've seen shadow folks or shadow people mentioned on some of the shows I've seen on TV of mysterious encounters. I just wasn't relating it to posts here at a bigfoot site.

At this time I neither believe or disbelieve in things like ghosts, bigfoot, space aliens and the like. I'm willing to believe if provided sufficient evidence but having never had any type of encounter with any such I can't say I'm one who believes such exist YET.
