The following represent my findings of this AM regarding what my computer is getting infected with when visiting various websites.

First, I ran a scan to detect (and clean off) anything that was there prior to commencing the action.

Came here and performed several administrative functions.

Ran the virus scan and nothing came up.

This would tend to obviate the contention that you automatically pick stuff up by merely logging onto the ISP provider.

Went to the MABRC site and spent ~4 minutes there.

Ran the scan and a virus infection was detected and subsequently dealt with.

Went to their attack blog and spent ~2 minutes there.

Ran the scan and a virus infection was detected and subsequently dealt with.

It is noteworthy that at these two websites, the virus encountered was the same one.

Went to the BFF site and spent ~4 minutes there.

Ran the scan and a virus infection (tracking software) was detected and subsequently dealt with.

The point of this exercise was an attempt to ascertain exactly where and what are the sources of this type of malware garbage that can potentially have a harmful effect upon your computer system.

Be advised.

Big 10-4 #59, about getting infected from those sites, that you mentioned. I got a few myself when I went over there.  Undecided I was on there a couple of minutes also. I think it could be the mabrc, infecting the bff site. All of those infections started bout the time darkwing started going over there to the bff, to drop names about his site.  Cheesy

BM...the OP was strictly intended as notification of my findings when visiting these particular websites, nothing more, nothing less.

And, yes when I clicked on the link DW included in one of his posts on the BF regarding the alleged "foot" they were examining, my anti-virus software went ballistic and the trojan virus alert was engaged and caught the crap before it could do any harm.

Not throwing stones...it is what it is.

Some people have mentioned that some of the aforementioned sites have been given a "clean bill of health" by Symantec (Norton) et. al. however, my system(s) came with that antiviral software as well as MacAfee.  When I loaded AVG & Spyware Doctor onto my systems(s) one computer had 271 infections that the factory antiviral software had somehoe missed.  Go figure???

Since I cleaned out those rat's nests, my systems have been running much faster and probably w/o someone trying to nefariously track my movements around cyberspace.
