NDA's and Confidentiality Agreements are often used in an employer/employee relationship to protect things such as trade secrets, work product, et. al. They've been around for decades as a tool employed in such circumstances.

In the scientific arena, researchers usually complete their due diligence (repetition, back testing, etc.) and then publish their findings for peer review and such.

To use a NDA in the so-called field of BF research often leads reasonable people to doubt the veracity of the proponent of such an agreement. It can be simply a marketing tool in an attempt to gain credibility w/o validation for, if the material turns out to be bovine caca, the NDA signor is bound by it's terms yet the proponent can then crow about all the upstanding people that have "reviewed" the product. This may well be why the academics balked at NDA's when approached by a certain Mr. Smith recently.

So, if you have "the goods" then complete your due diligence and show the cards to everyone for if it's actually the real deal the findings will then stand upon it's own merits. Otherwise, you're just another circus barker in the throng of such practioners endemic in all things bigfootery.

The initials "NDA" stand for "non-disclosure agreement"--I think.
