Had an interesting encounter this morning:

At ~9:00 HRS the hunter was greeted by the sounds of limbs thrashing/breaking followed by a knocking sound. The hunter initially thought a buck deer was making a rub or scrape in his vicinity.

Then, a few seconds later a very loud knock was heard ~65 yards north of the hunter's treestand. The hunter noticed what initially was thought to be a cow stomping in a blowdown (cattle had been grazing this area up until a few months ago) treetop until the object moved into the hunter's line of sight. At that point the hunter observed a club being held by a large entity (facing north, away from the hunter) much in the fashion of a baseball bat. The entity then turned 90 degrees to the east and disappeared from view after taking approximately two steps in that direction.

The hunter noted the entity was a slim build with atheletic features and a pronounced lower jaw with extremely long arms. It strode away with steps that can best be described as powerful and with purpose. Based upon initial calculations using the hunter's position versus the entity then compared to a third fixed marker, the height of this entity is estimated to be ~seven feet. No other incidents were noted after the visual observation.

The area of observation was given a preliminary examination with a ~6" diameter oak having sustained considerable damage to it's NE & W sides with substantial concave gouges knocked into it exposing the inner white layers of bark. Also, the leaf litter surrounding the immediate area had been kicked up with several large possible footprint areas noted. At that time ~10' east of the tree a partial bare footprint was found comprising five toes and what appeared to be the ball area of the foot. Due to the soil composition in that spot being comprised of primarily humus a cast was unattainable. Most of the area is extremely rocky with sandstone and limestone being the main types. Also, a piece of sandstone ~24" in diameter was wedged upright against another tree ~6' west of the damaged one.

Photographic equipment is being moved into the location in hopes of capturing further evidence. Photos of the tree, stone and partial footprint were taken with a rudimentary 35MM camera and hopefully will provide further insight.

The adjacent landowner also had a previous sighting ~6 years ago of a similar type of entity and dubbed it "The Basketball Player" because of the lanky build and mode of movement. Also, some members of a so-called Bigfoot enthusiast group purportedly had a visual on a similar entity in the immediate area within the past 24 months.

Forgot to add:

Finally, another hunter (~700 yards north of this area) had a daytime (late afternoon) sighting (11/2008) of a similar entity when he observed the entity walking along a field for ~200 yards and viewed it through a rifle scope as well during this incident. When asked why he didn't pull the trigger, the hunter explained the entity "looked too human in it's face" for him to do the deed.
