That has escaped from a (i.e. primate rehab) facility?

Case in point, a google reveals several primate rehab facilities in Louisiana.

What exactly are these facilities doing?

Medical research?

Cloning?  Looking for Frankenmonkey?

A primate "rest home"?

Do any of their "residents" ever escape?

Are any of their "residents" ever released into the wild?

Hmmm?

T's.G'son.

Would anyone purchase a "used" primate and release it for some neferious purpose?

Would anyone deliberately produce a hybrid? And what, if they did produce one, would they do with it?  Euthanize it?  Release it somewhere? And would it be made public or kept secret.

I know of one case--it was in the Illinois River area not far from the dam--in which a breeder of Wolf/Dog hybrids had some of his animals released into the wild. It might have happened after the breeder died.  A friend of mine--his place is on the Illinois just below the dam--dispatched one of the unfortunate creatures when it showed up on his place. I personally consider the release cruelty--criminal cruelty.

I have suggested the possibility of a hybrid as an explanation of Bigfeet sightings in another post.

Things happen.

Incidentally, you know that you are Okie if you pronounce Illinois as El-a-noise--as in sound. I know better, but I still do it--unless I'm in polite and educated company and thinking about what I'm doing.

Nonya,

Thanks for the information on the book, but I really don't have a theory.  I've just suggested possibilities:  In my post of October 12, 2006, under the "Hunting for Bigfoot" thread, I listed these:

l. Bigfoot is a remnant of the giant apes that are known to have existed.
2. He is an individual of one of the known species of primate.
3. He is a hybrid--a cross between two known species of primate.
4. He is a previously unidentified species of primate.
5. He is a case of mistaken identity.

My stance on the question of Bigfeet is that I am open to the possibility, but not convinced that they exist.

A theory occurs in a scientific approach to a question as a result of observations and collection of data.  After observations and collection of data, a theory to explain the observations and data is then formulated and, hopefully, tested--if possible.

At the moment, I am in the observation stage: when I'm hunting or doing other outdoor activities, I try to remain observant of what is around me--and if that should ever happen to be a Bigfoot, I'll let you all know.

In the above list of possibilities, I included hybridization.  I specified that to be a combination of two known species of primate.  My above post seems to add the possibility of an Ape/Man hybrid--doesn't its?  (Have you seen the TV program about a Chimp that some believe was actually a cross between a Chimp and a Human?  At one point in the program, it was pointed out that Chimps are often kept as pets, and the possibility was raised that someone did "an unspeakable thing" with a pet Chimp.  The genone of Chimps and Humans is almost identical--only a few different genes.)

Incidentally, I used the "you all" construction above.  Does anyone know, and can you explain to me, why "all you" is generally considered a better way to say it?

Sure I can see that some sightings could have been of some sort of ape or monkey.
Here in Florida a few places have monkeys running wild after they escaped from zoos and such and have been breeding for years. Now places up north it might be harder for them to find food year round (I believe a Bigfoot would be mainly a meat eater during winters, things like deer and other animals they can catch or find dead already)
It was even here in Florida that it is said that someone tried crossing a ape with a human many years ago. The story says that it was a successful test and a live hybrid lived for a short time. If that is true who can say they did not try a few more times with even more success.

I believe Bigfoot is a real animal out there some place. I can by that some reports could be apes or monkeys but not all that many as they are just too small most times. I can not see a large ape like a gorilla being able to live without being found for all that long here in the US. Now Bigfoot is a different story as they have had a much longer time to learn both how to live here and how to stay away from humans.

Micahn,

To clarify my original question, there may well be several "varieties" of animals (Primates, Hybrids, FrankenMonkey & BF*) at large across the country.

What I find interesting is the location of a Primate "Rehab" facility near the place (Monster Central) where the "Louisiana Hunt" occurred.  It would be somewhat foolish for a prudent person not to raise the question.  As I've also mentioned in another post, that might explain the mystery surrounding the DNA "analysis" of the blood samples recovered as well as why the hunt organizer was so adamant about getting the ones I recovered back away from us.  Our initial analysis (prior to the MC guy getting them back) of the blood samples was of the blood type "O" which is common with several species of Primates.

The (MC) landowner has one resident that he refers to as "goofy" which could be some type of partially habituated or mentally defective (hybrid or a cloning experiment gone awry?) primate that may have resided with close human contact at some point in the past.  If true, this could go a long way in possibly explaining some of the activity at MC and surrounding areas.

It does indeed seem reasonable to conclude that there well may be other critters in the woods than an actual BF* entity.

* BF, an unknown entity yet to be identified by modern forensic science.
